This capsule collection is inspired by the movement of water and the detrimental effect of pollution/textile waste. I decided to focus on the relationship between various tones of blue and brown. I use a variety of silhouettes to represent the flow of water with a loose and flowy structure and definitive structures to symbolize plastic bottles and pollution. A goal of this collection is to spread awareness about ocean pollution and to promote the process of reusing textiles. These clothes consist of textiles that are either sustainable or recreated from previous fabrics. The thread I am going to use for each piece is made from plastic bottles; the use of this thread textile requires approximately 80% less energy and about 90% less water to produce than threads made from pure polyesters and oil. Hopefully these clothes, which are created for women between the ages of 18-24, will show women that they can not only look comfortable and fashionable, but are also able to help the environment around them.
